Title: Just 20,000 more
Published: Ventura County Star
Date: Jan. 14, 2007
About this cartoon: President Bush, having received significant amounts of advice for a new direction in the Iraq war, decided to go with more of the same: requesting a "surge" of over 20,000 new troops to try to stabilize Baghdad. There were few supporters of the notion, even among Republicans; most felt that this number of troops was too little, too late to make much of a difference -- if indeed we should even be escalating the troops there, as opposed to beginning to withdraw them.
