About this cartoon: The area's community colleges are being hit hard by the state's budget cruch, which reduces funds to local governments as well as to the community college system. The colleges are cutting full-time and part-time faculty, closing cafeterias, shutting campus newspapers and cutting vital educational programs such as nursing, while raising fees... which further cuts enrollment, which further cuts revenues. A pretty bleak situation for one of the state's educational cornerstones.
