Title: Racism conference
Published: Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles
Date: April 24, 2009
About this cartoon: A United Nations conference to address racism was probably doomed from the start. The first such conference, held in Durban, South Africa, quickly deteriorated into a bash-Israel fest. Israel and the United States boycotted the new conference, fearing the same scenario, and they were quickly proven correct: Iran's President Ahmadinejad addressed the conference and promptly launced into a tirade against the West and especially against Israel, singling it out as "racist" and denouncing Zionism, with a slap at the Holocaust (on the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day) for good measure. Several additional nations walked out at this point.
