About this cartoon: This was partly a commemoration of the assassination of John F. Kennedy 50 years ago, but also a contrast to today as the U.S. Congress has become almost completely paralyzed by partisan differences. In the Senate, the Democrats have just changed rules that the Republicans were using to block all of the president's appointees; no wonder the approval ratings for Congress are the lowest in history... a far cry from the optimism and the call to civically engage from President Kennedy a half-century ago.
