Title: Job Machine
Published: PoliticalCartoons.com
Date: Mar. 8, 2010
About this cartoon: The old, well-paying jobs are going away, thanks to outsourcing, downsizing and the use of freelance and temp workers. And the new jobs that are taking their place, if there are new ones, tend to pay far less. There may be openings in retail, which pays poorly, but the manufacturing jobs are dwindling. Some companies have "two tiers" of pay: the older, bewtter-paid workers still holding onto their jobs, and new, lower-paid, often-younger workers.
