About this cartoon: A proposal to build a mosque and Islamic center within two blocks of "Ground Zero"—the site of the twin towers destroyed in the 9/11 terrorist attack — drew highly mixed reactions. Probably a majority of Americans were appalled by the idea and the in-your-face aspect of a mosque in that site, while other Americans, including President Obama, defended it as part of the nation's commitment to religious tolerance and freedom to worship.
