More about this cartoon:
Title: Slade Gorton & endangered species
Published: Seattle Post-Intelligencer
Date: May 15, 1995
About this cartoon: U.S. Senator Slade Gorton (R-Wash.) decided he could appeal to populist constituencies by opposing liberal causes such as the environment, and opposed expansions of endangered species designations.that could annoy his timber-area voters.
Noteworthy: Slade Gorton seemed to relish becoming the new James Watt and all the environmentalists' flak that came with it. Well, he did provide me with a lot of material when I was in Seattle.
